This creative arts project is about telling a community story through a cross fertilisation between the creative arts and across entire communities by using an innovative transmedia platform.
Transmedia Storytelling is defined on Wikipedia as
the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies. From a production standpoint, it involves creating content that engages an audience using various techniques to permeate their daily lives. In order to achieve this engagement, a transmedia production will develop stories across multiple forms of media in order to deliver unique pieces of content in each channel.
There are three key elements that ensure communities can deliver consistent content across multiple devices while offering a variety of ways community members can become engaged:
- Story experiences can be clustered across multiple community platforms
- Stories engage with different kinds of audiences that can be managed in a variety of ways
- Each channel can be managed by the people who know the most about the topic or style of delivery
Transmedia storytelling makes it easy to capture the whole picture of a community. We can find various ways to represent what members do, Stories empowered within a multi-sensory complexity can showcase complimentary strategies employed by different sections of the community to engage students and staff in a holistic atmosphere of sharing and understanding.
In this example, The Master Wolf Project each part of the story has its own narrative but together, various approaches link to create a consistent, multi-sensory story.
Once the communicative adventure has been captured, applications of the story can extend the reach of the work by inviting interaction with members of the community and from onlookers from the wider community as user-generate content.
The elements of storytelling such as rap, illustration, writing are written and published in a variety of formats.
